Luckily for Republic of Ireland fans Giovanni Tapattoni had a massive amount of withdrawls like Keane,McShane,Kilbane and Folan otherwise this experimental side would look a whole lot different. Sheamus Coleman the young Everton defender/midfielder has been left out of the starting line with the less experienced Greg Cunningham coming into the side instead. Given has been made captain and probably could do with the game time.
Lawrence and Duff start the game which I see no point in as this game is to blood new players not see the old ones who have lots of caps. Doyle starts up with Long despite having a broken hand, but it begs the question why not try another less experienced player. On a plus side Green left through injury and Fahey starts in midfield.
Given (Manchester City); Kelly (Fulham), O'Shea (Manchester United), O'Dea (Ipswich Town), Cunningham (Leicester City); Lawrence (Portsmouth), Fahey (Birmingham City), Whelan (Stoke City), Duff (Fulham), Long (Reading), Doyle (Wolves).
