Andy Reid's last international game came under caretaker manager Don Givens in 2007 against Wales. He now faces no future under Giovanni Trapattoni unless Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn weaves some of his words of magic. Reid was dropped was after a late singsong after the World Cup qualifier against Georgia in Mainz last year.
Quinn who wore the Irish shirt himself with pride and honour will attempt to start a peace deal between the Irish manager and Reid. Reid is playing like a man reborn for Sunderland, and has shed nearly 2 stone over the summer. The deal is hoped to be in time for Novembers play-off matches against World Cup heavyweights France.
Ireland play France at Croke Park on Saturday, November 14th and the return leg on Wednsday 18th of November in Paris.
